I cashed a check that Exxon Mobil sent me at mas time for 1400.00. when I received my statement they billed me twice for the same check. they are claiming my bank indorsed 2 times. I have contacted my bank they have sent Exxon copies of my bank statement showing I only received the funds once. The Exxon company just sends me letters saying the bank cashed twice and will not credit my account. I have had an account with them for over 15 years and have never had an experience with them like this. They will not accept any documenation from my bank. Exxon just continues to state it is my responsibility to prove the bank did not receive the funds. I was told by a representative from Exxon this has been a computer error. When I repeated this to management they denied it.

Let’s look at where your money goes when you pay for gas: · Crude oil - The biggest portion of the cost of gas -- as of April 2007, that’s about 50 percent -- goes to the crude-oil suppliers. This is determined by the world’s oil-exporting nations, particularly the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which you will learn more about in the next section. The amount of crude oil these countries produce determines the price of a barrel of oil. Crude-oil prices averaged around $37 per barrel (1 barrel = 42 gallons or 159.6 L) in 2004 (Source: U.S. DOE). And, after Hurricane Katrina, some prices were almost double that. In May 2007, crude-oil prices averaged around $60 per barrel (1 barrel = 45 gallons or 159.6 L).

Just recently, ExxonMobile decided to close my credit card account with them for no good reason of theirs. The account was always up to date and paid in full every time it was used. It was never late and always on time. Today I go to use the card and it wasn’t accepted. I called them and they said because I was fileing for Bankruptcy on other companies they closed the account. I explained it was because I became disabled and lost income from another company I had worked for. I also said I didn’t file against you and I always paid in full and on time. I needed the card to continue good reports to credit agentcys and also for emergencies. They said it doesn’t matter that you didn’t file against us, we closed your account even though it’s paid up and even though you pay us. Shell did the same thing to my wife and her accont has always been up to date for over 15 years. I will no longer buy Shell or ExxonMobile gas. Besides they use middle easter oil. I’ll go to Sunoco,BP, Hess, and other gas stations that use gas made from American oil.

A workmate (KB) suggested that if I’m really serious about changing their behaviour I should do lots of research on why ExxonMobil sucks, and give it to to commercial TV. Imagine how excited Naomi Robson would get if she could say words like “astroturfing”. And everybody hates an oil company, so it will probably run, unless the TV station has some other reason to keep Big Oil onside. I’m toying with the idea in the mediumlong term, but I’m probably not going to invest the time for this over the next few weeks. On a related note, there is an article in the current issue of Newsweek that I’ll have to read. I glanced at it and it seems to say that “Peak Oil” isn’t going to be an issue, but that Oil companies are struggling at the moment, despite high oil prices, partly because finding new oil isn’t as cheap as it used to be. That seems to be a contradiction to me. But I haven’t read it properly yet. The other article that caught my attention was one about BP, and some of their recent mishaps in the US. Some are saying that they were a result of recent cost-cutting, and were quite avoidable. Investigations are under way. Here in Perth, it is my understanding that all of our petrol comes from only two sources. BP Kwinana, and Mobil Singapore. So I hope BP aren’t going to prove themselves as irresponsible as ExxonMobil are.
